Start with measurable goals

CURT needed to reconfigure a crowded 150,000-square-foot plant before its busy season. The program established measures, secured management involvement, and engaged a cross-functional team, including the people who would use the redesigned spaces.

Plan the work and the uncertainty

PMO Partners treated the deadline as a constraint while developing the detailed plan. Low-risk early activities maintained momentum. Consistent contingency rules supported budget estimates, with 10 percent added to preliminary quotes and 20 percent to unquoted items in this specific program.

Close with learning

The $5 million, six-month project finished on time and budget. At completion it was on track toward $1 million annual savings and $500,000 working-capital reduction; those benefits were targets rather than confirmed realized totals. Structured lessons learned strengthened the basis for future improvement.
