Know where the evidence ends
A transparent portfolio reveals current commitments, performance, and exposure. It cannot eliminate uncertainty about future demand. Leaders considering new services or AI capabilities may have credible historical data but limited evidence about the next market opportunity. Waiting for perfect forecasts can carry a cost of its own.
Commit in stages and learn deliberately
Separate established facts from assumptions. Identify which unknowns can be tested through pilots, modest investments, and external expertise. Define the evidence that would justify expansion, adjustment, or withdrawal.
In PMO Partners’ own service planning, that approach supported progress without requiring a large multiyear commitment before demand and capability were understood. Leaders could agree on the need to evolve while continuing to test how AI should contribute. Shared commitment to learning can produce more durable alignment than insisting everyone endorse the same prediction.
