Challenge

After more than 30 years in academic medicine and large health systems, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Anthony A. Romeo wanted greater control over patient care. Opening an independent practice meant coordinating facilities, finance, technology, compliance, staffing, and daily operations.

Response

PMO Partners led a multidisciplinary team and developed an integrated implementation plan. Weekly cross-functional meetings aligned accounting, marketing, operations, IT, and construction. The team coordinated the design and build-out of a 4,100-square-foot unfinished space while developing scheduling, billing, and patient communication workflows.

Outcome

Romeo Orthopaedics opened in December 2025 after a five-month facility transformation. The practice combined clinical and billing systems, technology-supported workflows, and internal management of core operations without reliance on an external managed services organization. The case demonstrates how a defined clinical vision and coordinated execution can support physician independence; it does not imply identical results for every practice.
