Establish the business foundation

Healthcare projects frequently struggle because teams skip planning, choose technology before understanding the problem, or approve an inadequately tested business case. Define the intended outcome, assess root causes, and challenge assumptions before choosing the implementation approach.

A business case should explain safety, operational, growth, or care benefits as clearly as financial returns.

Protect delivery and adoption

Engage stakeholders early rather than treating training at go-live as the whole change plan. People affected by new workflows can reveal practical risks and help build a sustainable solution.

Finally, address effort dilution. Too many simultaneous initiatives slow delivery and strain employees who still have operating responsibilities. Prioritize the most important work, assign capable project leadership, and make resource commitments explicit. Review a struggling initiative against these five causes to identify where recovery efforts will have the greatest effect.
