Revisit the commitments

A midyear review should determine whether strategic priorities still make sense and whether teams have received the capacity promised to them. Test original assumptions against new information and make any changes deliberately, with leadership agreement.

Look for hidden drift

Review initiative progress, resource gaps, obstacles, and signs of team frustration. Then examine the deferred list: are favored projects still advancing quietly or drawing small amounts of scarce expertise?

Low-level activity can still undermine a strategic choice. Executives should hold one another accountable for the commitments they made, including the initiatives they agreed not to pursue. The review is an opportunity to realign behavior and resources, rather than merely refresh a status presentation. A strategy remains credible when leadership choices continue to match it.
