Begin with business value

Rising license costs and overlapping applications make technology rationalization urgent. Yet replacing one collection of tools with another will not resolve fragmented data, unclear ownership, or inefficient processes. Establish the outcomes the portfolio must support and examine how work and information move across the business.

Choose deliberately

Assess usage, integration, cost, risk, and capability before deciding what to retire, improve, replace, or build. AI tools may change the economics of development, but maintenance, security, governance, and adoption still require ownership. Use a sequenced roadmap and measurable benefits to guide decisions. Strong foundations make new technology useful; novelty alone does not create a return.
