Resolve ownership early
MedTech organizations are usually built to operate the business and develop new products. A large remediation effort can overwhelm quality, regulatory, sustaining engineering, or R&D when no dedicated program structure exists.
Begin with a gap assessment. Establish accountable cross-functional leadership, a separate budget, and visibility into the revenue the program protects.
Make the difficult portfolio decisions
Determine which products to remediate, retire, or replace, and prioritize work according to risk, value, and feasibility. Revisit the plan as requirements become clearer. Without these choices, scope expands while the same resources remain committed elsewhere.
Protect capacity and align incentives so remediation does not repeatedly lose to day-to-day work. Experienced temporary support can strengthen a team without creating an unnecessary permanent structure. Disciplined governance keeps leaders informed and allows the program to progress while the business continues to innovate.
